Catherine Andersen Catherine Andersen has been teaching dance at numerous studios and recreation centres for over 14 years. With diverse training in ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, Pilates technique, and yoga, she is a highly sought-after instructor. She won numerous awards and scholarships at local dance festivals before pursuing her professional dance career. Catherine holds a BFA degree in contemporary dance from Simon Fraser University, a Dance Diploma from Grant MacEwan College, and is a certified Pilates mat-work instructor. A professional dancer and choreographer in Vancouver, Catherine has performed with dance companies such as Mascall Dance and sirenscrossing UK, and has presented her own choreography at numerous professional venues around the Lower Mainland. Catherine supports a healthy and positive approach to dance training, both physically and psychologically, and has enjoyed teaching the diverse and vibrant community in Mount Pleasant for several years.

Melissa Bandura Melissa Bandura teaches both yoga and violin in a fun environment where personal creativity is encouraged.  In her yoga, Melissa focuses on a dynamic breath, aware body and present mind for an ultimately rewarding class. Her years of studying classical violin (grade 10 RCM) and now fiddle (celtic, american, gypsy, jazz) have given her a multi-dimensional take on teaching music: using ear-training, music theory, and varied teaching methods suited to each individual student.


Shary BartlettShary Bartlett  teaches fine art and writing at Capilano University and Langara College.  She is an award-winning academic with a Master's degree in Canadian Studies, literature and art history from Carleton University. Shary is a creative writing graduate of Simon Fraser University's The Writer's Studio. Her art work is held in private collections and her writing has been published in newspapers across Canada.  Shary's focus as a teacher is on fun, the creative process and experimentation.  The atmosphere in her art classes is playful, relaxed and supportive. Allison Berry Allison Berry has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria - specializing in theatre and choral music.  She has been teaching adult singing classes since 1993 and has had great success in teaching those who believe they can’t sing.  Allison creates an environment in which it is truly fun to sing, and she has consistently demonstrated a sense of passion when leading her classes.  She encourages each member with an empathetic teaching style that allows each individual to develop at their own rate.  Allison also performs as a soloist and with her own professional caroling trio.


Siri Brown, M.A., CCC is a certified clinical counselor who is dedicated to helping others overcome their challenges and obstacles to live the life of their dreams. She has 12 years of experience providing individual and group counselling in the areas of addictions and mental health. Siri's current areas of specialization include compassion/caregiver fatigue, burnout, anxiety, depression, addictions, habit change, and career/life transitions. Callie CampCallie Camp, Fit 4 Two® is a a BCRPA-Certified Group Fitness and Yoga Instructor for over 10 years and a certified Pre & Postnatal Fitness Specialist, Callie joined the Fit 4 Two® team during her first pregnancy, and has been instructing East Vancouver moms and moms-to-be since 2006!

Miriam DavidsonMiriam Davidson has been in demand as an educator and a performer since 2002. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University Of British Columbia. She teaches voice and beginner piano in her studio in the Fraserview area of Vancouver as well at Mt. Pleasant Community Centre and at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Miriam takes a very positive and encouraging approach to voice and piano teaching. Voice lessons for youth and adults focus building good control, tone and confidence through breath support. Students choose the style of music that they want to sing and so they get the most enjoyment out of the lessons.


Lisa DongLisa Dong has been line dancing for more than 14 years. She is an enthusiastic, supportive, patient instructor who currently teaches popular line dancing classes to seniors at various locations in Vancouver, including Mt. Pleasant Neighbourhood House. She encourages people of all abilities to try line dancing.

Jennifer HershmanJennifer Hershmanhas been singing and performing on the stage Since she was 8 years of age. She has played guitar for over 8 years And is currently studying contemporary dance at SFU. She has worked with children for a number of years and is a recording artist and International songwriter.

Eri ItoEri Ito is a Japanese instructor from Japan. She has been teaching Japanese for over 10 years in Vancouver, of which, three of those years at Mount Pleasant CC. She finds teaching a lot of fun because it gives her a chance to meet nice, interesting people with different background in class. She enjoys sharing her language and culture with people in Vancouver. Naomi KolinskyNaomi Kolinsky, M.Ed., RCC is a registered clinical counsellor who has worked with families, couples and individuals since 2005. Laura has been actively practicing Pilates for four years. Her passion for Pilates drove her to complete the BCRPA instructor training program in early 2008. She currently teaches group mat classes part-time and loves the balance Pilates brings to her life. Janet McleishJanet Mcleish is an innovative, Canadian born Zumba instructor who has been teaching dance for over 8 years throughout Canada. Her eclectic style incorporates African, Latin, Modern, Jazz, Middle Eastern, Hip Hop Funk, Ballet, Contemporary, Disco, Calypso into a perfect blend and exciting aerobic workout. John Mitchell has written extensively for television, composing and producing over 500 episodes of animation and live-action.He won a Leo award for the David Steinberg series, “Big Soundf” which included writing songs for Jan Arden. John was nominated for a Juno for his children’s songs and was musical satirist for CBC TV and Radio Afternoon Show. He performs regularly, singing and playing keyboard, with the band, Public i.


Paola Parrotta grew up with dance, swim, and gymnastics lessons. Paola has always lived an active lifestyle.  Several years ago, she discovered the many benefits of both yoga and pilates.  She embraced the feeling of strength, balance, and spiritual wellness both practices brought to her life.  In the spring of 2008, Paola completed her pilates instructor training, and has been teaching pilates since July 2008.  She also completed her Fitness Theory training through Douglas College and is BCRPA certified.

Michael Gabriel RosenMichael Gabriel Rosen (www.MásMovement.ca) fell in love with Cuban Style Salsa in 2002 in Santiago de Cuba and in 2004 was trained as an instructor by Dos con Dos dance school in Quebec City. He founded the Más Movement dance school in Vancouver in 2007. Over the years Michael has had the good fortune to dance in troupes like Dos con Dos dance troupe (Quebec City) and Estilo Cubano (Vancouver). He prides himself in finding ways to encourage a positive and inclusive learning environment in his classes and brings extensive facilitation skills into his classes. Michael, who came to salsa as a foreigner (or yuma), is grateful be working with this powerful form of cultural expression. Monica SchoenenbergerMonica Schoenenberger is a BCRPA registered group fitness instructor and personal trainer. She has been in the fitness industry for nearly 20 years. She enjoys what she does and tries to deliver a great, challenging yet safe workout for everybody every time.


Paul TamFor nearly two decades, Paul Tam has dedicated himself to the art of Choy Lee Fat under the study of Master Hilbert Yiu. He started Choy Lee Fat in 1988 and achieved the black belt rank in 1992. Ranking #1 In National Black belt League on both Hand and Weapon form  for three consecutive years, 7th degree master level under the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations and 6th Duan in Chinese Wushu Duan Wei System from Chinese Wushu Association. Currently, he is the head instructor of CLF Kung Fu Club and Tai Chi Instructor for many Business Corporations and Community Centres. Paul is adept in a variety of fields including hand forms, weapons, self-defense techniques, and full contact sparring as well as Chen's Style Tai Chi. Training as black-belt for more than fourteen years now, he continues his studies in both Choy Lee Fat, and Chen's Style Tai Chi. Throughout the past nineteen years, Paul has won over 40 first place and grand championships in both regional and international competitions. He also represented Canada to compete in the 1st World Traditional Wushu Festival held in Zhengzhou, China in 2004, resulting in two 1st place as well as a 2nd place finish.  In 2006, Paul has won two 1st place in "The Second World Traditional Wushu Championships" in China.


Hanna YungHanna Yung teaches Line Dancing, Ballroom dancing and traditional South East Asian dances.  Her style and class regime is used to promote fun and well being through the power of dance.  Besides teaching, Hanna also likes to organize fund raising parties and traditional dance performances.  Hanna has been part of the Chinese Cultural Association in Kamloops and the Hai Phong Overseas Chinese Association in Vancouver.


Sung Yung

Sung Yang is a mindfulness teacher, dedicated to teaching and practicing mindfulness for the benefits of all. He taught thousands of mindfulness classes at recreation centers, schools, universities, hospitals, Buddhist centers and other organizations, teaching people from all walks of life. Julia ZennstromJulia Zennstrom is an independent dance artist and teacher.  She graduated from the School of Toronto Dance Theatre.  Julia has performed her own choreography at Dances For a Small Stage, Twelve Minutes Max and Merge.  She also performed a solo at the 2007 Vancouver International Dance Festival.
